NEVER USE CBD MOVERS

You might be tempted to because you've looked at a few quotes and they're the cheapest. Please don't do it. They're only the cheapest because their business model is using random unexperienced subcontractors who will damage your furniture, then deny it. You'll then make a complaint, but CBD Movers won't put it right, they'll side with the random subcontractor and gaslight you by telling you that you scratched your own furniture or it was already like that. Their call centre is cheap overseas labour hire and the people who work there are trained to admit nothing and deny everything.

Don't take my word for it, google 'CBD Movers Public Warning - Consumer Affairs Victoria'. And please use literally any other removalist.

Terrible behaviour and services, avoid CBD mmovers

I had a very disappointing experience with this company during my recent move. From the start, they were unprofessional both in how they handled the move and in their communication with me.

First, I received a call full of unnecessary questions, seemingly aimed at justifying a $65 charge for the call itself—before any contract was signed.

They charged me an additional $150 for handling my brand-new side-by-side fridge, after I had already explained its size and expected it to be moved with care. But, unexpectedly, the movers were clearly not experienced in handling such appliances, and they badly damaged my fridge with many dents and damage on my brand new fridge.

Even worse, despite being told that my items would be covered by insurance, when I raised a claim, they rudely accused me of providing false information and claimed that my fridge was already damaged—which is completely untrue. Their customer service was rude in their email responses, and they offered a $100 compensation, despite the extra charge I paid for careful handling and badly damage to my fridge. I declined this offer, as I believe professionalism and respectful treatment of customers are more important.

I do not recommend this company. If you value your belongings and expect respectful, professional service, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

Fantastic Service.

We worked with Manny and his team to clear out my grandmas home and the whole service was fantastic. Our movers, Jas Bar and B Bar were friendly, very efficient and got the job done on time. Very affordable service too! Would highly recommend.

Will never use them again

If I could give zero stars I would.

I had a number of issues with the movers and CBD Movers on the day of my move.

Firstly the movers went to the wrong pick up location and I had to direct them to the correct one.

Secondly they damaged a number of our pieces of furniture when forcing the doors of the truck closed as they did not pack it properly. The company then claimed this was

'general wear and tear'. I do not understand how breaking off a leg of a tv cabinet whilst in your care, rendering it unusable, would be general wear and tear.

The truck's battery then died which is not the fault of the movers however, it took this company 5.5 hours to fix. I note that the company upon my complaint claimed they fixed the truck "promptly and efficiently". 5.5hours is neither prompt nor efficient to fix a dead battery.

Further the company left our belongs on the street in the truck unmanned. The window was completely rolled down and anyone could ve accessed this.

Once the truck was fixed the movers did not drive the 5 minutes up the road to our drop off location but rather to the pub to "have a drink". Effectively stealing our belongings in the process. Even after the movers were told that they had to immediately attend our drop off location by management they took a further hour to arrive.

Finally the movers, continually harassed me through out the drop off to pay before completion of the job. They changed the final fee three different times and intimated me into paying by stating multiple times that they would not leave until it was done. I felt unsafe and concerned for my safety in this moment so I removed myself and transferred the funds.

Following this they harassed my housemate on three different occasions and forced him, not the person who had contracted the company, to send a text message saying the job was complete. Once again this happened before the job was done. The company then claimed that I had provided this text message and once I proved evidence that I had not they claimed he was my partner and had legal authority to respond. He is not and I did not delegate legal authority to anyone as I had already informed CBD Movers that I would be making a formal complaint.

When I complained to the company and requested a refund and investigation they concluded that no items had been damaged, even though I had provided them with evidence, that they had provided clear communication throughout the mover, which not once did they contact me to provide updates or to say they were leaving the truck, and that the outcome of our complaint was that they had "noted [my] feedback and [they] have already forwarded this to the higher Management, strict feedback has already been shared with movers".

Even after I complained and asked them to reopen the investigation they came back and stated that there was nothing that they had done wrong.

I will never use this companies services again and would strongly discourage others from using them.

DO NOT HIRE CBD!!!!!!! DO NOT!!!!

Do not trust the fake positive reviews on their website.

Check independent review sites before hiring this company.

I hired them and was present during the move, where I experienced harassment and threats. One mover worked while the other pressured me for payment and a positive review. He blocked me from leaving the office and later stood next to my car door.

They stopped working twice to force me to pay and write a review. The company’s support was incompetent, repeatedly losing emails and putting me on hold multiple times.

I had to direct them on both the location and how to move the items. This company should not be operating in Australia.

Afterward, my husband showed me similar reviews, confirming a pattern of terrible experiences. I don’t usually write negative reviews, but after this, I am considering reporting them to the police for harassment and threats at my husband’s insistence.

Scammers - Run away

Start running around taking pictures of the sight to substantiate all the extras they want to charge you. Walking further than 50m - this was never discussed. $100 per man. An incline of 5-10% (ie not flat) is a RAMP. A ramp is $100 per man. Items you have already listed along with all the weights - heavy item charge $150.00. This would be hilarious except at the time it makes your blood boil. Many calls backward and forward to the call centre while they liaise with their team to negotiate the new fees. A $240 job becomes a $960 - what a joke. They refuse to unload the truck until payment is made essentially holding your items hostage.

Never ever get caught in this trap - run away!

DON”T USE:

I had an incredibly frustrating experience with this moving service. I had arranged for four movers and two large trucks, but they ended up sending two smaller budget trucks instead. We had clearly communicated that our house is spacious and filled with furniture, which is why we specifically requested two large trucks and four movers. When we asked for an additional large truck, we were hit with an extra charge of $170 per hour, on top of the initial $240 we had quoted for.

The movers worked at a painfully slow pace and, unfortunately, even caused damage to some of our furniture. To make matters worse, they didn't load the trucks efficiently, resulting in two trips instead of one, despite having three trucks and five movers available. In the end, we found ourselves spending around $4000( which is $2000 extra of what we quoted for) for a service that was far from satisfactory. We had completed all the packing ourselves; all they needed to do was transport our belongings from one house to another.

Poor Service, No Care of Our Furniture or the Buildings.

CBD Movers moved me from my old house to a new just five minutes away in June, 2018. They were quite a fright in both service and care of our goods.
We booked more than 2 weeks before the move, but that didn't stop them from being more than a day late--they were supposed to arrive around 8 AM on a Saturday but arrived at 11 on Sunday. Being almost the shortest day of the year this meant that we only had about 6 hours of daylight to get the move completed.
They were very slow; our last mover did two truck loads in 8 hours (in 40+ heat)--these guys were only able to do one in 6 ½. This meant that both my wife and I needed to take a day off work to complete the move on Monday and muscle a lot of heavy goods that they never got to.
These guys never used any blankets to protect items until loaded in the truck. A number of pieces were marred by their negligence. They also muscled furniture around scarring the hardwood floors in our rental--can you say money out of pocket to make this good.
Then to add insult to injury they overcharged, not counting our deposit as part of the bill (my wife did the booking so I did not know of the deposit til I saw the bill).
And we even bought them lunch as they had not packed anything, and we could see that their slow progress was going to mean that we would not finish before the sun was well below the horizon.
Our complaints to "costumer service" when days before a response (I guess this guy is kept quite busy) and in the end completely blown off.
All-in-all, a very bad experience and not one that one wants when you move into your first home. Stay away, very far away.

Local move from Victoria Park, WA to Harrisdale, WA

Worst Removalist - I ended up with a $2500 damages.

I am completely angry and dissatisfied about the job (212284) completion for the move request from Victoria Park to Harrisdale in WA and hence I am reviewing the service. I am listing below the main issues:

1. When I booked the service I was informed that the job will be between 2 and 5 pm and it was not communicated to me clearly that is the expected arrival time. This I understand that it could be a miscommunication.
2. The truck arrived at 3.35pm and my friends and I helped the guys in the loading process despite them being on the phone, standing and chatting for a considerable time. We ensured that clearly labelled fragile items and appliances are loaded well. The loading was completed at 5.00 pm. The truck moved shortly after and we were expecting the truck to arrive in no longer than 30 minutes. An hour and 15 minutes passed and they were not picking the phone up. After 2 hrs they informed me that the truck has a battery problem and they have fixed it and they will be on the road in 10 minutes. Despite trying to call them several times and not answering and not keeping me informed, the company called and told me that they have a bigger problem and they have a mechanic working on it. They also informed me that the guys will be in touch as the office is about to close at 7 pm WST.
The guys refused to answer calls and did not provide any update. At 8.50pm they answered and they informed me that they are about to finish loading the items on a replacement truck the company sent and they will start moving in 15-20 minutes. At 10 pm they answered and they told me they are 20 minutes away. They finally arrived at 10.45pm.
They brought two other guys and the luggage was thrown randomly in the truck and stacked on top of each other at no specific order without consideration to fragile boxes despite having clearly labelled boxes.
They started unloading boxes and I pointed out that some of the clearly labelled boxes were damaged. They then demanded the payment before finishing unloading, they refused to unload the rest of the stuff (big items) unless I made the full payment and they threatened to leave with the stuff and actually closed the truck. According to the information I was provided, I was informed that payment will happen after the completion of the job. After a lengthy argument, I paid to resolve the issue as it was midnight and no information centre was available to answer the calls. Despite not agreeing to the amount and they refused to unload or make a discount for the time wasted.

3. when the payment was made, it turns out they were insisting on the payment as the large items have significant damages as follows with picture evidence:
a) The fridge apparently has fallen somehow during the transport of transfer between trucks and has significant damage in the back and the side. There was a broken door and a missing piece from the door was found on the floor of the truck and the guy tried to fix it while I was recording and he stopped and asked me to sort it out with the company (I have video and picture evidence).
b) The dining table has significant damages to the surface (Can be seen clearly on the pictures).
c) The bed bases have significant damage and oil stains (pics available)
d) Coffee table leg is broken (pic).

I contacted the company and provided evidence and videos and pictures and the refused to take any liability for the damage despite the evidence provided.

So I decided to contact consumer protection to help in this issue.
Overall, I would not recommend the company as I ended up with over $2500 damage bill from a simple move job without an acknowledgement of liability despite the evidence provided.

CBD Movers - AVOID to avoid hidden costs and property damage.

This company charges hidden costs - are not transparent with their charges and exceedingly disrespectful to property and cause damage to your items which they refuse to then replace or provide compensation when they cause damage. I would give them no stars if possible. Avoid using this company unless you want to be ripped off and have your property damaged.

Horrific.

We had a two by two apartment. Everything was neatly pre packed and ready to be loaded into the lift. They took almost six hours and did things to delay such as packing the truck for each lift load instead of loading it in a few big goes. Our building manager even thought it was a scam. They also left our sofa and mattresses unwrapped on the carpark floor. In a pandemic let alone the basic standards of hygiene. Horrific.

No care with furniture, overcharge, bullied into giving 5 star review.

We first had cause to use CBD Movers in Sept 2019 for a small move and they did a good job. In Aug 2020 we had some other items moved but with a completely different experience. The lack of care in moving was evident, the attitude of the mover was arrogant at best and they attempted to financially induce me to give them a 5 star Google review. To top it off they overcharged me by one hour by claiming they arrived at the job 30 min earlier than they did and ended later than they actually did. Thankfully we had video evidence to support the actual times. Getting a refund for the extra hour charged was excruciating with CBD only agreeing to the refund once they heard we had booked a full house move (which we subsequently cancelled). Whilst each mover is different it appears to be a bit of a lottery as to the service you get. For that reason I would stay well clear of this company.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Had a job booked to move from Sydney to Port macquarie. Truck was meant to arrive between 7-9AM, but they didn't show up. After multiple phone calls over 2hrs to their company where we were constantly put on hold while they would "contact the drivers" were finally told the truck would arrive around 12. When the truck did arrive the 2 removalists only worked for 10-15 minutes before stopping for a cigarette break. One of them spent most of the time on his phone and when he did help would take the individual drawers out of a bedside table and carry them one at a time to the truck, not once during the loading did he use one of the 2 trolleys they brought and would only carry one small item at a time. Small 3 bedroom house, all furniture that could be taken apart had been previously and everything else was boxed, I had moved all items to 2 rooms closest to doors for their convenience the night before. Loading took 3+ hours and I ended up moving the majority of the furniture and boxes to the truck myself to try and get them to move faster. Removalists constantly stopped to talk on phones and to stand around doing nothing. Items were poorly packed with no regard to fragile labels, boxes weren't stacked just literally tossed into the truck. One of them repeatedly asked if we could take items in our car (already fully loaded station wagon with 2 kids in the back) rather than load them on the truck. This included things like table tops that physically wouldn't fit in the car even if we had taken the kids out and completely emptied it. Driver was annoyed when I refused and pointed out that's what we were paying removalists for. Once finally packed drove the 4hrs to Port macquarie halfway there received a phone call saying that the drivers were 2 hours away. We arrived at port macquarie within the 2 hours with no truck in site. Over the next 2 hrs repeatedly called the company and was put on hold while they "contacted" the drivers until we were finally told that the truck had broken down and they would need to send a new team to get our stuff and that they wouldn't arrive till at least 1 am. When they did arrive at nearly 2am there were different drivers but it was the same truck with our stuff still inside. Drivers refused to unload until we paid nearly double the original quote. Again had to move the majority of the items myself as one of them wouldn't get out of the truck just placed items on the edge of the back for me to move for him. Other guy proceeded to load boxes etc into the garage, stacking big and heavy items on top of small and fragile boxes and leaning them against each other when the boxes underneath started collapsing. The one out of the truck tried to leave the fridge in the garage and got disgruntled when I told him I would need it moved up some stairs to where the kitchen was, then demanded that I help him move the fridge up the stairs. Repeat this with every item I asked to actually be moved inside the house including washing machine and lounges. Meanwhile my wife and kids (2 &6yrs old) tried to sleep on the floor in one of the bedrooms. Multiple Boxes and items were damaged. After they left i had to spend another 3 hours trying to restack everything to prevent more damage and actually access half the items they had randomly stacked everywhere so I could get bed parts so I could put kids beds back together. Wife and I slept on floor.

I cannot stress enough that you should not book with this company. Their service was beyond pathetic and from reading other reviews I can now see that they are running a scam as many people have similar complaints. Everything they did was calculated to drive up the price and the arriving at early am time was obviously a scheme to leave people too tired and desperate for their items to try and argue with them so you will pay. Basically blackmail. I will be taking this company to the fair trade commission and possibly claims court if I can't get some of our money back. Would happily make it a group claim if anyone else is in a similar boat.

One last time just in case DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

I booked packers and movers

At first they seem very professional but the 2 men that packed our belongings threw our belongings into half filled boxes with no consideration or respect we had mugs not wrapped... plates thrown in with food or containers all just thrown we ended up repacking all the Erik they had done and we cancelled the move after finding out our bed was broken from the disrespect it and pulling it apart

They half filled the boxes so there was more and we would need 2 trips

Then when you make a complaint even with numerous pictures it’s ignored

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM OF A COMPANY

This “company” caused over $3,500 worth of damages (not including the $8,900 massage chair)

Not only were the movers unmotivated they were unprofessional and showed up in open toed foot wear, and sweats. What company doesn’t have a dress code for its employees??

These “removalists” took 3 hours to load 2 beds and a sofa onto their truck… not to mention they have upped their rates per hour by $50.00 claiming “covid safety practices” workers arrived smelly, dirty, didn’t wash hands or even wear masks or disinfect a single item!

These movers lost ALL of the bolts to our beds - a $3,000 bed set that they dismantled, and a $400 bed.

Damaged our murals - $495.00

Damaged 2x $140 pot plants

Scuffed and ripped our brand new leather dining room chairs - $132.00 per chair

Damaged our $8,900 massage chair, and our custom cabinet $600

They have taken no reasonability for this matter whatsoever, claimed that they never received my claim even though I sent it in 5x with invoices for the damaged furniture and photos for evidence.

Than when I mention posting a review they can than “read” my claim and emails!!!!!

This company is a joke!

We asked to speak to a manager - THEY DONT HAVE ONE! What legit company doesn’t have a manager??! Or insurance to cover their movers?

This company than offered us $500.00 Cash to shut us up because we said we were going to post this review with evidence and go to small claims court. Not to mention they said the $1,400 we paid is now apparently gone. SCAM

My family has been sleeping on the floor since the 18th of September as we cannot get these bolts for the beds from Bunnings and Bedshed has said that we need to repurchase these items as they don’t sell the bolts individually.

Movers sweared and cursed at my family, and neighbours had to step in as they threw our pot plants on their yard with no regard.

Due to the movers incompetence neighbours, friends and family had to move items and hand them to the movers as they were making no progress and demanded WE help even though we’re paying them 170.00 per hour...

This move began at 12:00 and they didn’t make their first load until 6:40 that night - new house is only 15 minutes down the road.

This company’s ethics and practices are unethical and disgusting!

Terrible Service and very Dodgy Organisation

Moved a small apartment worth of furniture about 1 hours drive. There were a number of serious issues:

- They took 2.5 hours to drive between addresses which took me 1 hour. You pay by the hour.

- took a one hour lunch brunch (which I paid for) in the middle of the job and didn't notify me, so I was sitting around waiting.

- A piece of furniture that they put down fell over and damaged my wall significantly (attached picture)

- At the end of the job they asked for payment. They tacked on about $300 extra onto the quote. When I showed them the quote they (two large men, inside my home vs me alone) became extremely aggressive and threatening and forced me to pay.

- I contacted the company and the CEO called me and apologized and said they would look into it, which came to nothing.

These are serious allegations. Pay a bit extra and go with a reputable company, as these guys are very very dodgy.

Worst Moving Company Experience Ever!

These removalists are unfit for practice. They damaged goods (scratched fridge and desk). They turned up at 6pm (deadline of booking time), finished at 11:30 pm for a one bedroom apartment. Had to do two trips in a standard one to two bedroom 4.5 tonne truck. Unsafe work practices (no proper ratchets, cable ties nor safe trolley). Their worker fell off their truck and hurt their knee badly! The workers bickered, complained and were lazy. My partner and I ended up doing half the labour but still paid nearly $900 for the job! Ouch! I wrote a negative review on google and CBD movers didn't like that. They then tried to bribe me by offering $130 to take down reviews. I refused as this is against ACCC regulations. I have since made ACCC complaint. I urge anyone who has fallen prey to this company to go ACCC or VCAT. They were rude, aggressive and dismissive of my bad experience. Horrible company and have dug a bit deeper and it their reviews (go low rated first in search check) are alarmingly negative. Be warned.

Here a story of what happens when using this company

Hi,

This removalist company keeps scamming honest people. They are tones of stories like mine. Here is what happens when using their services.

On 3 April 2022, I used your removalist services. Two men came to execute the job on that day.

The removalist called at 6 am the morning of the move to tell me they would be at my place at 8 am. They arrived at 9:30 am and did not start working before 10 am because they could not reverse the truck in our huge driveway. I noticed from the beginning that they were working at a languid pace. They finish loading the truck at 2 pm. All of the boxes were organised and put in one place to make the loading process more straightforward. It took them 4 hours to load the truck, but they refused to bring some items, pretending that the truck was packed, which was not valid. This caused my partner and me to do several backs and forths to load our cars to finish the move.

Arriving at the new house, they were greeted by my partner. She also noticed that they were working at a slow pace that was not normal and told them. One of the men rolled his eyes at her. She also asked them to stop dragging our furniture on the movable part of the truck. Again, one of the main gave her a condescending answer stating that our furniture was already damaged. She mentioned that it was not true and asked them to lift the furniture instead of dragging it. Then the two men started screaming at each other in a foreign language and stopped unloading the truck. My partner told them that she would not pay for their losing time, arguing with her and each other.

Then they asked her to pay right away even though the job was not finished. She refused. Our confirmation email tells us that the job must be paid after completion. She would call the police when one of the men called his Superior. My partner spoke with that person and complained about the pace of the men making our move, their attitude toward her, and how they were treating our belonging. The man on the phone advises paying for the job now and making a complaint.

After the removalist finally left our new house, we realised that they had left some furniture outside in the front garden (it was raining) and that some of the furniture was damaged. Also, the removalist left our new house at 8:15 pm, and we have been charged for 11.5 hours plus a $25 extra that we don’t know what it is. If we do the maths, the number of hours we have been charged doesn’t make sense.

They overcharged me $507 and offered me $50 as a goodwill gesture for the damage to my furniture. Damages that they refuse to admit it was their fault after I sent photos.

Scam company

My mother and I booked CBD movers to move 1 large sofa that we could not move ourselves. We were quoted $202 for the full job. I booked for Friday 29/7, PAID A $67.50 DEPOSIT TO LOCK IN THAT DAY and was told drivers would arrive between 10-2. I took the day off work to meet the movers. They did not show up AT ALL on the Friday stating their truck broke down and they have no replacements which is honestly not good enough for a company with an entire fleet of trucks at their disposal. It seems to me they overbooked themselves. BUT IT GETS WORSE. I begrudgingly reschedule for the next day despite it not working with my busy schedule and they complete the move and charge my mother $270! And have also not taken the deposit off the end amount! I reach out to them about my issues and all they admit they owe me $67.50 (would they have tried to get away with it if I hadn’t called them?? Probably!) and kept sending scripted responses that did not address my issues with the movers not showing up on the day I took off work! And to make it worse they are now holding the refund of my deposit ransom until I agree to sign a form about not following up with a complaint or taking it any further! I deserve a discount for the movers not showing up as well as receiving my deposit back that I’m owed!

Appalling company, careless and incompetent "workers"

DON'T DEAL WITH THESE SHONKS!

I was moving a small 3 room office in Spring Hill with a moderate amount of furniture. First of all, they said they couldn't find a park (despite there being two loading zones less than 50m away) and drove off so the move was postponed a day and they returned with a smaller truck the next day. They were slow, had no platform trolley or stair trolley. It took over 8 hours to complete the removal and they were clearly not professional removalists. They wouldn't move PC monitors despite agreeing to the list of items I sent in advance which included monitors.

Worse still, they were incompetent and careless and damaged several pieces including an expensive desk suite, a cabinet and a fridge top. The estimated damage is almost $3k. They wanted me to pay on the spot and I refused. I have asked for insurance claim forms and they have so far failed to provide them but they keep harassing me for payment. They spend more time and effort threatening and harassing customers after the fact than they do performing the job and providing customer service. Zero stars and I'd give less if I could.

Just find someone else. It's not worth the pain.

Stay away from CBD movers. Don't take risk.

Stay away from CBD movers. They are cheaters and manipulating customers. I'm a victim. I booked their service 1 month in advance and paid advance amount for a big truck. The booking time was 10 am to 2 pm. I waited till 2 pm, but the truck didn't arrive. When ever I contact them, I was told that wait for the truck, the moving staff are still with previous job. After 2 pm, they contacted me and said they can send small truck and the small truck arrived at 3 pm. I had booked a cleaning service to clean my house at 4 pm before vacating it. They ruined by day and all plans.

UTTERLY SHOCKED!

2 men booked to move items complained so much about everything!

7-9am time slot. I asked for preferred time 8:30 and was assured it should be ok.

I was told I’d get a call 30mins beforearrival (I didn’t). I called head officearound9am and was told 15mins. They arrive late at 10am.

They took their own sweet time walking.

1 guy seemed shocked about the work on arrival. Details that had already been agreed upon and should have been conveyed to him from head office. Unprofessional.

While removing my mattress, the construction workers nearby yelled out their 8.5 tonne truck wasn’t parked properly and was rolling down the street.

I told them to rescue their truck quick and held my clean, king size, 10 month old mattress

which now got dirty on the ground. They took ages to come back to retrieve the mattress.

I say the truck attempting to park and rolling again. Finally they parked it a bit further down the street. When enquired they said the brake was not working properly.

Finally, they took the mattress and again hadn’t come back. I found them discussing something behind the truck and my mattress was leftstood up against the truck but touching the street, getting dirty again!!

No sense of duty of care with items.

I then asked what the problem was and I was told they were cancelling the job and the company would send another truck. I asked why and they said they had too long to walk and the steps were inconvenient and if I wanted the mattress to be clean, I had to wrap it completely. Well I didn’t expect to have it on the ground did I?

They spoke as if I was inconveniencing them

The company rebooked for the next time slot but that didn’t work for me. During a stressful time, this is the last thing I needed.

I explained I’m on a timeline here. They offered to discount me $5 ph (what a joke) then $10ph which still isn’t good enough. I was told that is the best they could do. I said I would book with another company and the phone call ended.

After booking with another company, I received an email and msg from CBD movers about a refund of the call out fee $60.

I do not recommend doing business with CBD Movers.
